iTunes Review

Alive with blazing faith and rocking righteously, P.O.D. reclaims the excitement of its early releases with Murdered Love. Singer Sonny Sandoval and guitarist Marcos Curiel spearhead the San Diego foursome’s revival, aided by the production input of old studio partner Howard Benson. The bracing rap/rock/reggae fusion that earned P.O.D. its initial notoriety is back with a vengeance, reinforcing militantly Christian lyrics that offer hope to a fallen world. Songs like “Eyez,” “On Fire,” “Panic & Run," and the title track find Sandoval raging against a modern-day Babylon as his group churns and shreds behind him. Especially potent is “I Am,” an outcast’s desperate prayer that uses confrontational language to drive home its redemptive message. Less ferocious but likewise memorable are “Beautiful" (a compassionate ballad), “Lost in Forever” (a soaring rocker infused with a pilgrim’s spirit), and “Bad Boy” (a playful tune about looking for The Right One). “West Coast Rock Steady” raises a toast to the band’s native Golden State. The positive vibes that powered P.O.D. a dozen years ago shine brightly again on Murdered Love.

"I AM" not as BAD as everyone thinks, album is powerful

I've been a P.O.D. fan for a really long time and everyone always questions their faith and if they're REAL. Well they are real, and this song "I AM" is really powerful. They're speaking from the point of view from someone who is really questioning their faith (which is something all us believers have done at some point in our lives). They show the ugly side of this world, the ugly side of all of us. I really don't feel they used the curse world just to use it, but to show how some of us think and have thought... I dare you all to look deeper into the song than just the curse word... The Album is amazing and truly displays their faith and what they truly love.

To those who don't like "I Am"

The song is talking about a messed up guy who is asking for forgiveness of what he has done! It is a song of redemption! "Are you the One who will set me free?" He is talking about Jesus Christ who died on the cross for all of our sins! It is an amazing song! And just about anyone who has sin in their life can relate to the song!

Love these brothers, but disappointed with "I Am".

A stumbling block in what would have otherwise been a very powerful song. Very sad, because the rest of the album
is outstanding.

While they play around with the infectious grooves of reggae and Latin music as well as the heavy deliverance of hip-hop and rock, San Diego's hard rock four-piece P.O.D. have defined a universal message. They're born-again Christians and their faith takes a central place in their music. In the SoCal neighborhood of San Ysidro, Marcos (guitar) and Wuv (drums) relished the music they grew up on. San Ysidro or "Southtown" was a multicultural area and working class. While Marcos and Wuv were fond of...
