In 2015, progressive electronic producer Alejandro Ghersi is best known for his client list, which includes Kanye West (Yeezus), Björk (Vulnicura) and the R&B chimera FKA twigs (EP2). Listening to his sophomore album, you can see what they liked. Dark, chilly, abstract and atmospheric but grounded by a visceral sense of rhythm, Mutant wobbles around like a creature that’s just fallen from space. Its best moments—the fractured interlude “Vanity” or quasi-industrial “Soichiro”—seem to abide by their own laws of physics, splintering under invisible pressure.

Talented but...

The sound design here is tremendous. Now Alejandro needs to learn to write songs. He could learn something from the talents he works with.
