iTunes Review

Parents hoping to inspire their kids to practice more could do worse than hold up Joey Alexander as an example. Accompanied by well-practiced sidemen like Larry Grenadier and drummer Ulysses Owens Jr, the 11-year-old Bali-born piano prodigy displays talent far beyond his years on his standards-packed debut. While he shows remarkable depth of feeling during the gorgeous ballad "Lush Life,” Alexander’s solo on John Coltrane's harmonically challenging "Giant Steps" is relaxed yet inventive.

A Terrific Debut

Joey Alexander’s technique is exquisite. He plays with maturity and sophistication. A fine debut album of standards that one can listen to repeatedly.

Blown Away

Absolutely blown away by the talent of such a young man. I can't even imagine the level of talent he will acquire as he grows. I don't listen to jazz typically, but stumbled across this album and decided to preview on First Play. I knew right away I had to have this album. So relaxing and sets such a happy mood. The perfect background music for any get together.
