A great movie. Music choices did a wonderful job adding another layer of sadness and despair to Brandon's character. So much happens with out any words, its befitting that some great classical pieces are in the score too. The performance of NY NY was riveting.
The music matched the characters despair with hauntingly powerful force and the disco-tinged soundtrack perfectly balanced the sensuality and the utter frustration.
Beautiful and moving if somewhat derivative
A riveting listen, but Escott's score is pastiche'd shamelessly, almost note for note, from Hans Zimmer's score for "The Thin Red Line". I actually enjoy Escott's version better, but it still loses a point in my book for being derivative. The addition of Glenn Gould in the film was a nice and unexpected touch. Mark Louque's house track also provides some good contrast.
