iTunes Review

In case the disco nation was wondering if Chic could get any more assured after “Le Freak,” the band went ahead and proved it could. Risqué, its third album, was their most ambitious yet, offering their greatest classic and several other numbers that weren’t too terribly far behind. “Good Times,” heard here in its full, resplendent eight-plus minutes, topped the R&B chart for six weeks with one of the smoothest, most indelible grooves ever, and a worried appraisal of the future not so buried between its funky lines. “My Feet Keep Dancing,” replete with a tap solo by the great Fayard Nicholas, made getting lost forever in music sound better than ever, and “My Forbidden Lover” brought the Chic style to romance: you could read that “forbidden” to mean anything you like.

Great album on vinyl

Yeah, this is a great album; i'm not sure why the CD version features a 3 minute version of Good Times, when the vinyl has the full 8 minute version. I'm not talking about an extended dance mix; the album started off with the full-length version.

4 Good-Great Songs and Three Throw Aways

Good Times is clearly one of Chic's all-time best. However, look elsewhere for the full 8+-minute version. The sleeper on the album is "A warm Summer Night." It is a hauntingly sweet slow jam. The full six-minute version is here. The next two, Feet and Forbidden Lover are decent disco cuts -- nothing more, nothing less. The remainder of the album is a waste of space. So, you're probably better off buying the good cuts as individuals or buy the best of Chic album and add Warm Summer Night as a single.

First four songs are awesome

I have to agree with another review written here-the first four songs (the most popular being of course "Good Times") are some of the best from Chic. "Le Freak" is good, but "Warm Summer Night" is THE JAM. The song didn't receive much air play back in the day; but as a Chic fan, I would listen to that song over & over. "My Feet Keep Dancing" and "My Forbidden Lover" are extremely underrated songs-In my opinion, just as catchy as "Good Times" and great to dance to. Tracks 5, 6 & 7 are not the best-so as a music lover-I'd recommend the first four songs & "Le Freak"-You've got the "Best of Chic"~

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s

There can be little argument that Chic was disco's greatest band; and, working in a heavily producer-dominated field, they were most definitely a band. By the time Chic appeared in the late '70s, disco was already slipping into the excess that eventually caused its downfall. Chic bucked the trend by stripping disco's sound down to its basic elements; their funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors. Chic's sound was anchored...
