You will love this worship album

This CD is more than a compilation of good songs, there is an anthem here. There is meaning behind what you hear on the CD. New Life church has been through some hard times in this past year, and this CD was recorded in the midst of them. It represents the youth ministries at NLC, it says "we're not giving up because of circumstances, but even more we are going for God with all we have." I think it's amazing. The songs are indeed incredible songs. I think you'll find when you listen to it, that this CD is not your typical worship album; it screams with raw passion. Another thing I really like is how scriptural the songs are. There is not one song that I don't enjoy thoroughly on this album. Buy it, you won't regret it. By the way...the prologue makes a great intro song for a fight...

Desperation Band Reaches a New Level

Everyone Overcome, the new release from the desperation band is a breakthrough. The energy of this album is honest, passionate and raw. This album was recorded at a live "Night of Desperation" worship service at New Life Church in May of 2007 and is successful in capturing the intensity of that worship experience. It is refreshing to see two songs over 10 minutes and four songs over 6 minutes, definitely not the norm. My favorite song on this album is "Overcome". It resonates as the heart of this album, pure and simple. It is a powerful song that is coming from a broken place. Musically, it is strong. Desperation uses both strong drums and guitars to great effect in this album. The sound is grittier than previous attemps, but I feel that it adds to the authenticity. They also make use of a DJ which you can hear spinning on several tracks... something unexpected, but it really adds to the sound. To Sum Up: Honest, Passionate, Worship, something a bit different.

the lyrics are a little corny. they don't seem to original and little too self-centered for my tasted. it doesn't feel like "honest, humble worship". having said that, the music is decent, lending itself to corporate youth gatherings. i wouldn't recommend buying this album.

Genre: Christian & Gospel

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Alternative CCM outfit Desperation Band grew out of a 2001 Christian student ministry conference held by the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Taking an alt-rock, U2-like stadium approach to praise & worship themes, the band was originally centered around three praise & worship songwriters, Jon Egan, Jared Anderson, and Glenn Pakiam, all of whom already had successful musical careers going and were well established in the CCM community. While sticking to praise & worship...
