Blown Away!!

I was very excited for this album to be released and bought it immediately without hesitation, something I only do when I really love a band. I regret nothing! "Cold Comfort" is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. It's absolutely flawless from start to finish. The album starts in a different way than "Altitude" or "My New Time", both of which had an upbeat opener. "The Scarecrow" is a much more subtle opening, but not at all bad! This album is much more mature than their previous works, and this subtle opener shows it very well. Marjan's voice has improved so much on this album and it really shines. The music is fantastic on every track. There are lots of great guitar riffs. While I think every song is perfect, I do have my favorites. My absolute favorite song on this album is without a doubt "Alloy". It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard. It's definitely my favorite song this band has ever released. Other favorites include "End of Sorrow", "Truth Be Told (Exhale)", "Cold Comfort", and "The Venamoured". But they're all fantastic songs and you really won't regret buying the entire album for the wonderful price iTunes has it.

Sonic Masterpiece

Had never heard of this band, ran across the band by pure serendipity.
I haven't this deep of a response to an album since the first time I heard Operation:Mindcrime by Queensryche. The songwriting, music, production and singing was perfect on Mindcrime as it is on Cold Comfort. Marjan captures the very essence of pain, loss, despair and rage ... but without the vocal gymnastics that would have been utterly predictable. Her voice is understated, deep and spiritual. Great musical chops with precise production ... Much as one can with Mindcrime, Cold Comfort can be played from beginning to end leaving the listener utterly drained and overwhelmed from the emotional journey. Alloy is metaphorically and spiritually one of the most demanding songs I've ever heard, truly a masterpiece. There are so many other musical gems on this effort - the whole is truly greater than the sum of the parts ...

A Really Good Offering.

Great album, some good songs, some that are just eh. Marjan Wellman shines once again as Autumn shows us their darkest side and the utter beauty can be disturbing but it's fantastic. The album is sort of monotone though and I wish for a little more edge and metal like stuff from the guitars as opposed to distortion but make no mistake, probably their best album to date and worth every dime.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

Peter "Ense" Bonne and Geert "Sen" Coppens grew up as close childhood friends. Ense played the guitar and drums, while Sen showcased his talents with the keyboards and guitar. By the time they were barely in their teens, they were forming bands of their own -- sometimes alone, sometimes with friends -- and entertaining at local events whenever they could. Most of their gigs were pulled together with the help of borrowed instruments that supported the young Ense and Sen through one show at a time....
