iTunes Review

With her inaugural Spanish-language recording, jazz-pop vocalist Natalie Cole carries on a family tradition—her father, Nat "King" Cole, recorded three albums in Spanish between 1958 and 1962. The luscious opener, "Frenesi," sets a relaxed tone, making an excellent showcase of Cole's dusky voice. Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli assists on the samba-infused "Bésame Mucho," while Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra adds delicate vocals to "Bachata Rosa." In the spirit of her 1991 tribute album Unforgettable...With Love, Cole here duets with her late father on the slinky "Acércate."

Cole en Español

My Father would always play Nat King Cole en Español in the house as kids growing up in my house. I heard Natalie Cole en Español Is releasing her album dedicated to her Father's album from 1958. I'm super excited to download her album. Thank you Natalie for making the world a better place through your music, and I thank my Father for exposing my family to such great artists as your Father and yourself!

I am in love with Natalie Cole’s new album! Even though I took years of Spanish in high school and college, sadly, I don’t understand a single word. However, this album makes me want to study the language again. I have to thank USA Today for allowing streaming via SoundCloud (that ultimately pushed me to buy the album). Natalie is in fine form, the production is top notch. There isn't a single track that is worthy of being overlooked, the bonus track is a perfect addition. It's great to see Ms. Cole back to doing music, the interviews she's done for it have been great, she looks so good!

It's good to hear your voice again, Natalie!

Fresh! With Terrific Singing Partners.

Bachata Rosa feat. Juan Luis Guerra is like a summer breeze. Yo Lo Amo feat. Chris Botti is a lovely lullaby. Andrea Bocelli supresses his vibrato and is dreamy on Besame Mucho. Cole and Arthur Hanlon are obviously having a great time with Oye Como Va. The arrangements to the songs pay tribute to the originals, but all have a fresh spin and Natalie Cole's singular voice. This is a perfect album to play at a dinner party, or just enjoy on a quiet night.
