iTunes Review

On Need, Todd Agnew offers a one-man review of American pop music styles, all in the service of the Lord. The Texas-born singer/songwriter has stood out on past releases by virtue of his burly voice and slightly left-of-center approach to Christian rock. This time, he displays greater command of his talents while branching out in a variety of directions. Many of the album’s tracks are rooted in Deep South traditions, ranging from African-American spirituals (“Tell Me the Story”) to Southern Gospel quartet numbers (“Deep Love of Jesus”). Piano-centered tracks like “The Love of God” and “Jesus, the Hope of Glory” reach back even further to traditional hymnody. Balancing such tunes are aggressively modern pop-rockers like “Joy Unspeakable” and “Higher Ground.” The emotional range of the album is impressive, stretching from the contemplative sentiments of “Did You Mean Me?” to the exalted spirit of “Gloria.” Lyrically, Agnew skillfully draws upon imagery from both the Old Testament (“Written On the Wall”) and the New (“Breakable”) to convey his passionate Christian faith.

Customer Reviews

Great album --> Good worship / theme

As with all of Todd's releases, this is a genuine CD that gives God total glory. I have all of his CDs, and up to this point, Reflection of Something was my favorite for quite some time for sentimental reasons of where I was in my spiritual walk when I heard this Need is probably going to surpass that. I've been searching for some good Christian music for some time, and in addition to Crowder's new one, Need hits me pretty hard. There are several songs on here that (1) are statements I would call out to God myself...autobiographical I guess, (2) songs that I'll sing to my kids after learing the chords...like Tell Me The Story, and (3) it's just got a great production sound. Thanks for putting this one out, and can't wait until the November concert in Cordova.

Wow!

His best songs and vocals ever!

Love the Behind The Scenes Video!

Todd is a completely down to earth man! No frills! & All about the Gospel! The Behind the scenes video that came with the "Deluxe Album" really was great to see Todd not on the stage, but kicking back & sharing about his journey! well worth the extra few bucks to support this artist!
