Chad Delivers Again

Chili Pepper's drummer Chad Smith has been very busy this year, with Chickenfoot and this side project, and he'll only get busier with the Peppers' reuniting. But, busy isn't necessarily a bad thing.

These instrumental tracks really give Chad a chance to just sort of explore the kit to serve the music, and as always with Chad there are some great and funky licks on here.

These guys aren't your normal band, they are an instrumental fusion of jazz, funk, and rock. They won't be everyone's cup of tea. However, if you don't mind sexy instrumental grooves then check em' out. Great music, great chemistry, and great musicians make for a great time.

This record blew me out of the water. By far the coolest instrumental record I have heard in a long time. Chad is really laying it down, but the band around him is great and equally funky. This isnt a drum off. Its just great music. Love love love it.

I want to know who the Guitar and Bass guys are. It's superb playing. Why haven't I heard of these cats before?

It was during this year that Smith manned the drums for supergroup Chickenfoot and closed out the year with work on the Red Hot Chili Pepper's tenth studio album overall. And between the two, he somehow also found the time to launch another project, the all-instrumental Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats. The genesis of the band can be traced back to Smith's friendship with former Trapeze/Deep Purple bassist/singer Glenn Hughes. Through jamming...
