iTunes Review

Chaz Bundick (a.k.a. Toro y Moi) debuted in 2010 with Causers of This. That album quickly became a poster child for the emerging chillwave genre—seamlessly melding elements of ambient music, electro-pop, and effects-laden glitch-hop. With each successive release, the producer/songwriter has continued showcasing his innate craftiness and penchant for funky, neo-soul rhythms, creating cohesive pastiches that transcend simple classification. For his third full-length, Anything in Return, the Berkeley, Calif., resident delivers our Editors’ Choice: a lush, silky collection infused with anxious house tempos (“Harm in Charge”), hypnotic R&B grooves (“So Many Details”), and indie-rock melodies brushed with pristine, high-register vocals (“Studies”).

Truly A Masterpiece!

The album maintains a certain consistency that is not seen in most work today. Yet every song matches so well, each following song seems like a logical extension of its previous. So cohesive and unique throughout. An amazing mix of new sounds and layering techniques i have never seen before. This album is amazing!!! This album has changed my perspective on what I believe is capable within music. A real breath of fresh air.

Chaz got me on this one

Chaz Bundick is simply a musical genius and it's apparent in "Anything In Return". His production skills clearly played a key role in this album, as we see he strayed away from the reverb ladden vocals in his previous albums and leaned towards crisp vocals which is a big change for the guy. Bundick's progression in music is amazing I rate this album a 5/5 but I can say I was a little disapointed with some of the filler tracks. Buy this album, you won't regret it :)

Nothing but improvement

I recently listened to the leak and I have got to say I am stunned by his improvements and his ability to make a experimental chill wave/pop genre so great. Every song on the album is a great listen and defiantly one of my favorite albums of all time.

Chaz Bundick started making bedroom recordings under the name Toro y Moi in his native Columbia, South Carolina in 2001. Drawing from a wide-ranging array of influences (Animal Collective, Daft Punk, and J Dilla among them), Bundick had a couple albums' worth of material ready for release eight years later. He was slated to release two full-length albums on Carpark Records in 2010: one, a dreamy, indie electronic affair (something like a cross between Panda Bear and Beach House); the other, a jumpy,...
