Recorded in December 1976 at the Los Angeles Forum, Here at Last captures The Bee Gees at a pivotal moment in their career. The Gibb brothers had recently made the leap from uber-romantic pop balladry into the disco era with such high-charting tunes as “Jive Talking” and “Nights on Broadway.” (Their greatest triumph—the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack—was yet to come.) Here at Last’s 18 selections highlight the elements that ran through The Bee Gees’ work from the beginning: rich melodies, indelible chorus hooks, and sensitive, often ethereal lyrics. This album also documents the group’s seamless live sound. Barry, Robin, and Maurice effortlessly sustain their trademark vocal blend throughout, supported by the crisp and dynamic playing of their backup combo. Mid-‘70s favorites like “Love So Right,” “Wind of Change,” and “You Should Be Dancing” are served up with urgency and polish, while classics from the group’s earlier days (like “New York Mining Disaster 1941” and “To Love Somebody”) lose none of their heartbreaking grandeur in these updated settings.
The best 70's live album of all Time "Hands Down"!!
Just before SN Fever hit the wax, this album was in full stream. With many great Bee Gees hits like (Joke, Broken Heart, Words, Nights on Broadway, Jive Talkin')....all great stuff. This is a great Album to listen to on the road...I wish you could get this on CD because I would buy it!
Here At Last... The Bee Gees on iTunes
I've been waiting for ages to see more of the Bee Gees' music on iTunes. To add such a rarity such as this album totally makes up for the lack of Bee Gees downloads. And it's a great album. Well done!
