iTunes Review

On her 13th album, Diana Krall reinterprets jazz standards with the idea that subtlety and moderation can provide a powerful platform for intense emotion. That’s brilliantly proven when rumba classic “Sway” is transformed into a slow dance so intimate she could be singing it with her head on your shoulder. The spare arrangements ensure the instrumentation is as emotive as Krall’s voice, and her piano gambols with Stuart Duncan’s fiddle to capture the breathless giddiness of love on “I’ll See You In My Dreams.”

Customer Reviews

I first started to listen to Diana when I was stationed in Iraq back in 2004. I had many a stressful combat patrols, several of which did not end so well. Her music was the one bright spot for me while serving my time in hell. She saved my soul, and life, while stationed overseas. I have been a loyal fan ever since and lok forward to new music.

To those folks that are just finding Diana - be sure to listen to her "live in Paris" album - that will make you a fan forever. So now we have Diana's latest album "Turn Up The Quiet" which shows her laid back, quiet side. Besides having a wonderful voice, it is always fun to listen to her wonderful jazz piano playing. Nice album.

I learned about Diana Krall with the Look of Love album, I didn't even like jazz or smooth jazz at the time. She has such an authenticity about her voice, she could sing the phone book and it would be beautiful

With her pre-bop piano style and cool but sensual singing, Diana Krall took the jazz world by storm in the late '90s. By the turn of the century she was firmly established as one of the biggest sellers in jazz. Her 1996 album, All for You, was a Nat King Cole tribute that showed the singer/pianist's roots, and she had great success in that traditional-minded mode before branching out into other styles in the 2010s. Krall got her musical education when she was growing up in Nanaimo, British Columbia,...
