A New Spin On Big Band Music

Because of the rejection of Stone of Sisyphus, over four years had elapsed since Chicago had released new material. Dawayne Bailey, lead guitarist had departed the group. This release helped fill that gap. Bruce Fairbairn provides competent production and guitar work and Chicago doesn't stray too far away from the originals to make the songs completely unrecognizable or an insult to the original versions. If anything, it gives them a little more shine, a fresh sound. Not a classic Chicago album, but more listenable than Twenty 1 four years earlier.

inspired

This album inspired me when I was really little around 6 or 7. It really made me fall in love with jazz. I had always loved Chicago and when I was about 14 stealing my parents albums I came across this particular CD again and over played it. I am now 23 and coming across this album rekindled my love for them and singing. I can't get enough of it and it needs to become more known in the public. So many Chicago fans don't know about it. and it really is a gem.

Classic remakes and a boost for the sound of Chicago

These are classic remakes of classic songs from I think the 30's and 40's. I think a real boost for the career of Chicago, in terms of presenting really cool and very well-written classic melodies and arranged in such a cool Chicago way. Not sure if this was a best-seller, but if it wasn't, it should have been. I don't think Peter Cetera was with them when they did this, but it doesn't seem to matter - it still sounds extraordinary - excellent. Check out "Chicago" and "In the Mood" and "Goody Goody", in fact check out the whole thing.

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

According to Billboard chart statistics, Chicago is second only to the Beach Boys as the most successful American rock band of all time, in terms of both albums and singles. Judged by album sales alone, as certified by the R.I.A.A., the band does not rank quite so high, but it is still among the Top Ten best-selling U.S. groups ever. If such statements of fact surprise, that's because Chicago has been singularly underrated since the beginning of its long career, both because of its musical ambitions...
