ancient was really sloppy when they started out in the 90's they werent very good or didnt seem like they were well put together or something... well they still arent very good now, i get bored easily when im listening to their songs, their vocalist isnt very good it sounds like he isnt a natural or he is trying to hard or something i dont know.. not good... ok just ok

Very good.

Like some, I felt this band was rather sloppy and remarkably unoriginal with their first few releases. However, this is album is very good if you like this style of music. Interesting riffs, good arrangements and surprisingly...very professional sounding. Good stuff.

Black metal band Ancient began in 1992 as the solo project of guitarist/composer Aphazel, soon expanding to a duo with the addition of vocalist/drummer Grimm; after selling out the entire pressing of their initial demo Eerily Howling Winds, the two issued their full-length debut, Svartalvheim, in 1994 followed a year later by the EP Trolltaar. After Grimm's exit, Aphazel relocated from his native Norway to the U.S., forming a new Ancient lineup with vocalists Lord Kaiaphas and Kimberly Goss as well...
