iTunes Review

Kurious Jorge is a Puerto Rican/Cuban cat from Uptown Manhattan who hit the scene in the early 90s. Signed to Pete Nice and Bobbito's short-lived Hoppoh imprint, he dropped several great singles, including "Uptown Sh*t" and "Walk Like A Duck," all flaunting his laid-back flow, witty lyricism, and ear for superbly funky production. Released in 1994, his first album includes all of these, plus other favorites such as "I'm Kurious," "Top Notch," and "Nikole." Like the Beatnuts (who provide most of the joints here), Kurious' M.O. is basically all about having fun, hollering at the ladies, big-upping his Spanish Harlem neighborhood, and staying faded on blunts and 40s. The featured guests are all great (MF Grimm, Casual, Psycho Les, and more), and the sample-heavy tracks (reinterpreting Roy Ayers, Midnight Star, and Stanley Turrentine, among others) play like a non-stop party. Kurious never released a proper follow-up, but this is feel-good NYC hip-hop that hasn't lost a step in all these years. Highly recommended for golden era afficianadoes.

But buy the album. It's worth it. Amazing.

I'm Kurious why this album is so underrated!!!!

this album is a straight classic don't even bother looking at the ratings. every song contains unique emotion and style to it and you can tell Kurious was serious when he worked on this album although much of his lyrics are light hearted and funny. this has got to be the most underrated 90s hip hop album by far. do not hesitate just pick it up it will make your day!!!

Best Hip Hop album ever

I never get bored listening to this album…….favorite line "train of thought 2,3 uptown"
Miss the days of real hip hop. Spell it with a J..and not with a Gee.

Having forged an allegiance with the former Third Bass rapper, Kurious dropped his own single "Walk Like a Duck" later that year with a little help from Pete Nice. The gifted lyricist with a Latino twang released his debut album A Constipated...
