Album Review

Brute's Nine High a Pallet is the result of two days of jamming between Vic Chesnutt and Widespread Panic, an odd pairing if there ever was one. On paper, Chesnutt's stripped-back, bitter, folky records seem at odds with Widespread Panic's winding, Allman Brothers-inspired Southern rock. However, Brute's record sounds much better than it reads, adding a loose rhythmic kick to Chesnutt's tales.

Vic and the Panic Rock

this is a chance to see Widespead explore music with their close friend and inspiration Vic Chesnutt. very nice!

Been looking for this album for a while!

I had this album on CD back in the day, which is now out of print, and i've been unable to find it in stores. I have Co-balt, the follow up, but this is the one... there was instant chemistry in these recording sessions and some of the songs still pop up in Panic set lists. These were the golden days for Panic, and the combination of them and Vic was some strange magic.

Kharmic goosebumps "Tossed right out into the blue..."

Great old album, especially for the wiser, darker Vic / Widespread Panic fan... WSP has Protein Drink>Sewing Machine in their rotation a lot since Jimmy took lead, and LGDTB and Blight have been impressive live for years. If you ever hear they are gonna be playin' your town, especially together, go. Just go. Thank me later. Buy the CD, see ya in the Lot!!!
