Album Review

Impeccable, meticulously destructured electronic tangents constructed from a minimum of constituent elements (a couple of drum machines, a synthesizer — maybe — and any number of sound modification devices). Like many on the Vienna scene, Farmers Manual use cheap technology to maximum effect, and prefer mucking about with assumptions about the "proper" rendering of beat-oriented (and sometimes beatless) electronic music designed for a post-dancefloor audience. Both fascinating and musically enjoyable, No Backup is among Mego's finest releases to date.
