Customer Reviews

Love to hear this side of Keith Jarrett!

Wonderful jams and explorations away from the piano. When I first heard this music reviewed on NPR, it blew my mind. As listeners, our understanding of an artist is really quite limited, and this is a refreshing and welcome view into Keith Jarrett’s musical life.

Not your normal Keith Jarrett

For people who love Keith Jarrett this is a welcome addition to his wonderful creativity. To people who want to explore more of Jarrett's other work, this might be a hard one to digest. I love Keith Jarrett's work and this to me was a great look into what he does when he is not at the piano. I am only curious to see if he has other stuff in his vault of treasures to give us. The music here is quite interesting. There is no band, it's just him playing every instrument there is. His home studio has all the traditional Rock and Roll instrumentation and he makes his own one man Rock and Roll band. He advises us to crank it up because it is meant to be played loud. If your looking for something to listen to that is not your normal ECM release then this a great pick up.

Look when the greatest living piano makes a record where he plays all the parts and none of them are piano you shoudl listen and dont be quick to judge. . I have loved this more and more everyday. its sort of like his piano music but swampy, bluesy, like an indian raga. its so nice to put on while youre doing other things or just tune in.
i especially like the noisy analog production and the atmosphere of the record. my advice is let go of your preconceived notions, open up and experience this. THank you Keith Jarrett for pushing me into new territory ... again and again and again.

Pianist, composer, and bandleader Keith Jarrett is one of the most prolific, innovative, and iconoclastic musicians to emerge from the late 20th century. As a pianist (though that is by no means the only instrument he plays), he literally changed the conversation in jazz by introducing an entirely new aesthetic regarding solo improvisation in concert. Though capable of playing in a wide variety of styles, Jarrett is deeply grounded in the jazz tradition. He has recorded over 80 albums as a leader...
