Bernard Herrmann in the Future

Bernard Herrmann's rejected 'Torn Curtain' score in the the 2020s.

Excellent score

Sweeping epic strings, jungle influenced percussion, futuristic digital themes, even lazy six strings...all present in this varied and under appreciated score. The movie itself is an exciting sci fi thriller about a noble and highly trained soldier with a very dark past sent to a future prison on a jungle island where the inmates have formed rival tribes. The score not only enhances the massive battles and intense chase scenes but brings a real emotional boost to the tragic moments and heroic sacrifices. Echoes Maurice Jarre more than Hans Zimmer or his protégés while still using synth in the more traditional sci fi settings. It actually elevates the film. As a standalone listening experience it is just as potent as it's use in the movie. Highly recommended. Listen to track 1 and 6. If they don't grab you then nothing on here will.
