Gritty, greasy, raunchy and hip.

This guy is definitely mis-categorized under "Rock". Chuck E. Weiss is a BLUES cat all the way and this is one of my favorite BLUES albums. Tony Did The Boogie Woogie is has an awesome supercharged John Lee Hooker stomp. Down The Road A Piece is a great actual Boogie number - you'd swear it was recorded in the late '40s. Those are my favorite cuts, but the whole album simmers with a nice raw, primal vibe. The players have some serious groove. If you're into old-school R&B, I highly reccomend this.

The ultimate scene-maker, Chuck E. Weiss has spent a career hobnobbing with the cool and famous in rock's hierarchy while barely pursuing a career of his own. Born in Denver, Weiss was originally a drummer, touring with bluesman Lightnin' Hopkins. By the late '60s, Weiss had performed and/or recorded with Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, Roger Miller, and others.
