This IS Muzak!
One perennial criticism of Paul McCartney's solo work (leveled by Lester Bangs and by John Lennon, in one of his snider moods -- Lennon, at least, got over it), is that his songs are too easy-listening. Anyone who's taken time to listen to a fair sampling of McCartney's work knows that's not true. And anyone who's heard "Thrillington," the instrumental remake of the "Ram" album that McCartney oversaw, knows that instrumental versions of his songs can be fun to listen to and even revelatory. But this Gary Tesca album really is elevator / doctor's waiting room dreck. Avoid this, and buy "Thrillington" or the Vitamin String Quartet tribute to McCartney instead. Both those are worth your time and money, especially "Thrillington" (not on iTunes, but available on CD).
