Editors’ Notes

Sweeping and epic, Roger Waters’ visionary rock opera tells the story of Pink, a rock star whose power has corrupted him. Pink Floyd told this partially autobiographical, partially metaphorical story with some of the most exhilarating art rock ever created. Powerhouse bass lines, drumming both thunderous and restrained, and dreamy synth fills are matched with an orchestra, sound effects, song fragments, and Dave Gilmour’s guitar solos.

Nice Trip

Fantastic trip down memory lane for Floyd fans. As for the album being cut up, if you are listening to this on “shuffle” then yeah - it won’t flow. I just downloaded this and it flows perfectly.

This is one of greatest albums, in my opinion.

I understand that there are some people who feel that this album is fairly difficult to understand at first, especially with songs such as "the trial", (mainly because everyone I know avoids it because of how it sounds); however, after listening to the album quite a few times, it sparks an interest to realise how the album affects you personally. I now own every Pink Floyd album post Sid Barrett ( I don't count the albums past the wall Pink Floyd). Also, someone commented the songs don't flow into one another, but they do. So disregard that.

The very name connotes something specific: an elastic, echoing, mind-bending sound that evokes the chasms of space. Pink Floyd grounded that limitless sound with exacting explorations of mundane matters of ego, mind, memory, and heart, touching upon madness, alienation, narcissism, and society on their concept albums of the '70s. Of these concept albums, Dark Side of the Moon resonated strongest,...
