iTunes Review

Orange County metalcore quintet Heartist’s six song debut announces the band’s arrival with the subtly of a hand grenade. Nothing You Didn’t Deserve explodes with “Disconnected” as frontman Bryce Beckley displays an amazing duality in singing. During the guttural screaming parts it sounds as if he’s tying to exorcise a demon from his guts before shape-shifting into a melodious, boyish, high-tenor that’s reminiscent of Saosin-era Cove Reber. “Rhinestone” follows with musicianship that exercises complex rhythms and a brutal assault of guitars. Drummer Matt Marquez and bassist Evan Ranallo are so locked-in to an airtight groove that they at times play like one creature with four arms. Similarly, guitar players Jonathan Gaytan and Tim Koch seem to communicate with E.S.P. — blasting out riffs that stop on a dime and morph into dexterous, intertwining leads nearly upstaging Beckley’s schizophrenic singing style. “The Answer” is dotted with electronic flourishes that add some sonic spice before an onslaught of anthemic gang-vocals take over.

Epic band

Amazing music!!!

these are the type of songs you can listen to everyday and never get tired of I've been keeping and eye on them waiting for new release they've jumped to my favorite band after the first time hearing them and got me into other bands but bottom line this is a must have album what it lacks in its quantity it makes up for in quality

Amazingly solid, great live!

First of all I wanna say that these guys are VERY GOOD FRIENDS of mine, and I have worked with them all even in past bands, but I am writing this review with still my honest thoughts of the music and band.

Heartist is amazing! From the start I had this feeling, and even while going through countless hours of rehearsal, an writing and take after take, I would stand there and take it all in then tell them, "this is it, I have a good feeling about this" and now look. Signed and about to start touring in a few weeks.

The music is so solid and is able to show everyone's ability, and not just show them as "another metal band." They feed off each other well which in return allows them to throw a great show. This is a band to watch out for.

Years Active: '10s

Based out of Orange County, California, Heartist have been blending fiery hard rock with passionate post-hardcore since their formation in 2011. Made up of singer Bryce Beckley, guitarists Robby DeVito and Tim Koch, bassist Evan Ranallo, and drummer Matt Marquez, Heartist barrel their way toward listeners with a stampede of huge riffs and thunderous drumming before turning on a dime to deliver a soaring, plaintive chorus, giving their sound an emotional edge that's served them well. In 2012, Heartist...
