Album Review

Home Grown doesn't take the title of their second album, Act Your Age, to heart. The Orange County quartet's very modus operandi is staying teenagers for as long as possible. That means there's no discernible musical growth between their debut That's Business and Act Your Age, but the group nevertheless still has fun — and they can convey that to listeners through their infectious punk-pop. There's not much originality on the album, but there doesn't need to be — Home Grown has a bratty charm and a way with a hook which makes them ingratiating over the course of an album.

Customer Reviews

Wow, the 1st Review??? Really????!!!???

I guess it never fails...once YOUR youth is gone....the current "youth" move on past all things good from your error...maybe not all thing, but much falls by the wayside...hence, Home Grown. I got turned on to these guys just before this album came out, my good friend/fellow band member showed me "That's Business" and for Christmas bought me "Act Your Age". The latter didn't leave my CD player for literally years. It's a HUGELY fun and musically pleasing album that rarely ever tires. Adam and Johnny, the staples of Home Grown are not only incredible musicians, but EXTREMELY nice guys! I had the priveledge of seeing them play at least 5 times here in Texas. All of their stuf was great, but the tunes from "Act Your Age" always stood out to me. This is truly a GREAT album and anyone out there looking to stumble across something new/old yet undiscovered that will perk the ears, this is a great place to start!!!

Number 2

I heard their first album from my California cousin a LONG time ago. It had a weird different version of Surfer Girl (which btw is a great song to kareoke). This band only comes out with great music and this album is the crown jewel.

Act YOUR Age

Home Grown is by far one of the greatest pop/punk bands ever to grace my ears. They're peppy, fun, talented and add humor to their songs that just works! I've been a fan for many years but have only had the pleasure of seeing them play live when I was around 17,,, which was 10 years ago. Anyone who enjoys a good tune to dance and sing along with, I highly suggest ALL of Home Gorwns albums. Because they're highly contagious and a lot of fun.
