Editors’ Notes

After straddling hip-hop, R&B, and dance music for several years, Heavy D found the perfect balance of his talents on 1994’s Nuttin’ but Love. “Sex Wit You,” “This Is Your Night,” and “Nuttin’ but Love” hit upon a seamless and supple mixture of rap and R&B that was simultaneously of the moment and timeless. These songs presaged the opulent aesthetic that would soon dominate hip-hop with the rise of The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. After studying “Got Me Waiting,” “Something Goin’ On,” and “Move On,” it’s impossible not to see Heavy D as Biggie’s predecessor and prototype.

Customer Reviews

A Classic in every sense of the word.

Ah yes...this classic takes me back to the Spring and Summer of 1994. The NY Knicks were on their way to losing a heartbreaker NBA Championship to the Houston Rockets and O.J. has to interrupt the proceedings with a memorable trip in his Bronco down a L.A. freeway. I'm working nights at the Post Office and Heavy D & The Boyz are on and keeping me awake. Great memories from a great album! If you don't have this classic, please pick it up! Peace...!

This is a Great HIP HOP ALBUM.

This is a Great HIP HOP ALBUM. Heavy D & The Boyz had tracks like Got Me Waiting, Sex wit You and Nuttin But Love pumping every where in The City of New York during the summer of 1994. Moreover, the rest of his album is just as good or even better than those tracks. If you like real Hip Hop then this is a must album to have. Great album to listen to driving, at the gym or even just chilling!

Definitely Ahead of It's Time

This album is one of my favorites. It was definitely ahead of it's time and did not have the shelf live it deserved. True music fans appreciate. This gave the genre another dimension. C'mon a Hip Hop Album with a Love theme. Hmmmm! makes you wonder.
