On his second batch of tunes, Obsession, Ohio country singer/songwriter Ryan Robinette combines an amiable, guy-next-door vocal quality that bespeaks his small-town upbringing with some immaculately produced and seamlessly constructed songs. The electrifying, momentum-charged "What I Wasn't Lookin' For" notwithstanding, Robinette's biggest strength this time around turns out to be his knack for surging, widescreen power ballads. For proof, take a dip into the emotionally naked desperation of the cinematic "Savin' Me" and the heart-on-sleeve romantic plea "Anything Like Me."
