Just finished my first listen....

I'm kinda taken aback by this album to be honest. I was a huge fan of Cosmogenesis, one of the best technical Death Metal albums ever release in my opinion. The technical prowess displayed on that recording are amazing enough but the writing had an organic feel that made the songs memorable. Omnivium has all of that, in spades even, but up the ante in so many ways I don't even know where to start. The songs, not the riffs, are what this is about for Obscura. It's not technicality for the hell of it, They build sonic landscapes with their instruments, that's the only way I can describe it. Theres so much going on in the mix i could take quite awhile to fully absorb this slab. Looking forward to getting out the headphones for this one. And when taken as a whole, the album just never lets up. Not a dull moment till the end. I could almost see the sonic landscapes they've weaved together. I'm completely blown away by this album. Hands down the greatest thing that has passed through my ears in decades.

If you made it to this page you obviously know who these guys are. Buy this album. This is Obscura at their best. Dont listen to Blake Athey he's an idiot.

Easily one of the greatest technical death metal albums ever put together...

If you're a fan of Death - Sound of Perseverance era, then there is no possibly way that you can dislike Obscura. This album has everything. Technique, melody, composition and excellent production. Much better than Cosmogenesis and that's one of my favorite albums ever.

Kummerer spent the ensuing years composing the songs that would comprise Obscura's 2006 debut album, Retribution, bypassing the traditional extreme metal process of distributing demos and...
