Editors’ Notes

The second collection of The Beatles’ BBC sessions draws from the prolific series of live-in-the-studio performances captured between 1962 and 1964. Filled with lively banter and exuberant performances, this brilliant volume includes a pair of previously unreleased rarities: a direct-to-air performance of Chuck Berry’s “I’m Talking About You” and a rollicking cover of “Beautiful Dreamer”. Even though the recordings have significant historical value for fans—including an early version of the band’s cover of Buddy Holly’s “Words of Love”—the broad appeal of these sessions lies in the uninhibited, freewheeling spirit of the musicians themselves. Covers of Chuck Berry (“Memphis, Tennessee”) and Little Richard (“Lucille”), plus a substantial collection of material from the extensive Pop Go The Beatles programmes, are included as well.

so im a 13 year old fan....

I've known the beatles since i was born because of my grandparents, but i never really gave their music a chance. i thought old music was washed out and that the new generations have taken over (typical teenage girl right?)

when i watched their itunes featured video, i instantly fell in love. they were lively, funny, and quite cute <3; plus their songs actually have meaning behind them, unlike most of todays music. i changed my mind about vintage music and i'm now totally into it.

so basically i, a teenager of the 21st century, am now addicted to the beatles and i no longer listen to the trashed up mainstream of today because of them. they're total life changers and i can't wait for these live recordings to be released :')

I'm crying because they're still together in my eyes; these four legends will live on inextricably. I love this kind of raw audio because its so intimate. And every time I hear a Beatles song I'd never heard before I get really excited because I pretend it was just released.

The Beatles

To hear the raw energy The Beatles have on these recording is as close as we could ever hear what they sounded like at The Cavern..What more can you ask for ??? 50 years later and The Beatles still show how it`s done..

Years Active: '60s

So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Moreover, they were among the few artists of any discipline that were simultaneously...
