Fantastic!

This music shows the maturity of Dave and how he has really become his own power house of a musician. A lot of fun to listen to!

Amazing album, a MUST have!!!

I must say that this album is absolutely AMAZING from beginning to end! There isn't one song on there that I do not like. Each song is very well composed and put together. It's heavy whenit needs to be, shreddy when it needs to be, and melodic when it needs to be. It's like Goldylocks, just right. Seriously man, it is a GREAT record. The time spent in the studio was well worth it. You outdid yourself my friend.

Furthermore, though not extremely heavy, "On Revolute" is extremely powerful in its sound and scope. I am glad that an artist understands how to get power from his music without using tons of detuned guitars and gobs of distortion. Dave illustratesthis point masterfully. VIVA la "On Revolute"!!!

Officially out of Steve Vai's shadow.

In his second studio effort, Dave Weiner definitively establishes himself as an independent musician, creating 11 tracks of undiluted tunes and energy. The basic premise of the album seems to be to keep the overall result mostly traditional and easily digestible; the sensibilities of this record, however, are still very much unrestrained by the conventions of the mainstream, or any other genre. Neither is there a minimalistic '3 piece band' sound to speak of, the aural arrangements fill up the sonic landscape in a healthy manner, and Dave often aids the dynamics of the song with powerful orchestrations during climatic sequences, with the result never less than stellar (or Wagnerian, for that matter). All of the songs have a sharp edge too, as even the slower ones never get even close to the definition of 'atmospheric', creating a constant, and a very energetic pace. There are some downsides though; while the end sound is very full and articulated, if Dave can be blamed of anything, it would be of an almost too well-reproduced and accurate guitar tone...such that, that a listener with a keen ear will hear a lot of the guitar pick and various, abeit minor, distortion artifacts coming through. Secondly, the aforementioned traditional approach may divide up the audience; as a significant portion of instrumental fans have come to expect relatively extreme prog leanings from it's artists, they will find that while the record borrows significant chunks from all kinds of genres, it never forces you to come out of your comfort zone, or hits you with such a barrage of notes that you start to see stars, which, admittedly, might be good or bad.

All in all, the end result is unique, full of life, and a marvellous addition to any self-respecting audiophile and music lover's collection.
