Album Review

This is a fairly typical Larry Carlton date, with a mixture of music (funky jazz, R&B, some rock influences and a bit of pop) and some distinctive if unadventurous guitar playing. Carlton, who is joined by an electric rhythm section (including keyboardists Terry Trotter and Alan Pasqua) and occasionally saxophonist Kirk Whalum, sounds fine, but the music appears to have been geared toward potential radio airplay. The biggest surprise is a version of Eric Clapton's "Layla."

Customer Reviews

house of tunz

Once again..not a review..just wondering what the cover art as displayed above has to do with Carlton's "Solid Ground"?

All in good time (the single)

I believe no one at ITunes reads these reviews. The cover "Today and Tomorrow" with McCoy Tyner above has nothing to do with Larry Carlton's music below. If you purchase this album ITunes will download "McCoy Tyner's album cover to your IPOD. Try to complain, ITunes web page will send you in circles with no results. However, the album "On Solid Ground" buy Larry Carlton is great. Also, the reason you must buy the complete album is that it is no longer in production. You might find it used in some stores.

not fair

I don't think it's fair you can't just buy the song All In Good have to buy the whole album to get it!!!!

Fortunately for fans of this eclectic guitarist, he chose the former, and has recorded under his own name for Warner Bros., MCA Records, GRP Records, and various other labels since...
