Album Review

Blue Öyster Cult's first live album was also their first to peak inside the Top 40, an indication of the audience the group was building up through extensive touring. Songs that had a tight, concentrated impact on studio albums got elongated here. And although BÖC had dropped some classics from their first album by the time of their 1974 tour documented here, On Your Feet or on Your Knees did mark the first commercial release of a version of "Buck's Boogie" as well as covers of the Yardbirds' "I Ain't Got You" and Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild."

On Your feet, Or on Your knees

It's not the best sounding live lp ever made. The live versions of several songs on this cd actually are better, And livelier than their originals. I remember My friends and I, First finding B.O.C. from this cd/lp. M.E.262, Cities on flame, And also (Then Came The) Last days of May, Should be in any real rocker's music collection. I just wish with all the new technology, They'd remaster this so it will sounds it's true best. If they did, This cd would stand among the finest live shows ever recorded.

Best Live Album...EVER!!

"...Here they are...the amazing BLUE OYSTER CULT!" I can't believe that this album has only one review. In my opinion (and the opinion of many others) this is the finest Live album in existence and "Buck's Boogie" one of the greatest electric guitar performances in rock history. I prefer Buck Dharma's performance on "Maserati GT" even more. If you love rock, listen to "Maserati GT" and if you feel a bit mellow listen to (Then came the) Last Days of May. Best yet, listen to the whole album in a darkened room with good headphones and your drink of choice. You will thank me.

Best BOC Live Album

Althought there are several live albums and some great tunes on the others this album is a MUST for Rock Fans. Best Song: Cities On Flame - One one BOC Song/recording EVER. No 2: Last Days of May - incredible guitar solo. No. 3: Subhuman - Incredilble depth of guitars and keynoards, I'd say it defines BOC at their pinacle. No. 4: Seven Screaming Dizbusters - It actually makes you feel like you're at the concert. Get this whole album you will be extremely pleased!

Blue Öyster Cult was the thinking man's heavy metal group. Put together on a college campus by a couple of rock critics, it maintained a close relationship with a series of literary figures (often in the fields of science fiction and horror), including Eric Von Lustbader, Patti Smith, Michael Moorcock, and Stephen King, while turning out some of the more listenable metal music of the early and mid-'70s. The band that became Blue Öyster Cult was organized in 1967 at Stony Brook College on Long Island...
