good cd

I have both of Spill Canvas's cds. I like One fell Swoop alot, but i still like Sunsets and Carcrashes much better. One Fell Swoop has more of electric guitar and drums and defiinatly has more of a rock sound. While Sunsets and Car Crashes is Mainly acustic. The cd takes some getting used to, but it is very well made. If you like their original cd, then i would definitally recommend buying One Fell Swoop.

Excellent album from a promising band

I just recently bought One Fell Swoop and I am loving it! Solid songwriting throughout - catchy melodies and interesting lyrics as well. I guess "Lust a Prima Vista" and especially "Staplegunned" are my current favorites, but one of the great things about this album is the overall quality. It's not often that I find an album I can listen to the whole way through without complaint, but I definitely feel that way about this one. They do faster songs and slower ballads equally well, which is not easy. My only complaint is that from listening to this album, one would think that the only important thing in life is romantic drama! I would expect that from a pop star, but it's a little disappointing from a songwriter like this with clear lyrical talent. Not that there's anything wrong with a good love/heartbreak song, but a little more variation in subject matter would be nice. But it's an easy flaw to overlook when the music is so good. I've only heard a few tracks from their debut album, Sunsets & Car Crashes, but I must say that I like the full band sound much more, and I think that Nick Thomas' songwriting is getting better and better with time. I will be looking forward to hearing from these guys again.

Buy this NOW!

This album is amazing. Gives you the chills. It grabs you right away and it's hard to stop listening to it. The lyrics are genious and the vocals are insanely good. It's the best CD I've bought in a long time. You must own this!!!

Biography

Formed: 2002 in Sioux Falls, SD

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Like Bright Eyes and Five for Fighting, the Spill Canvas began as the pseudonym for a solo singer/songwriter before transitioning into a traditional band. Sioux Falls native Nick Thomas played in a variety of local punk bands in his early teens before transforming himself into a solo acoustic emo act along the lines of Dashboard Confessional. At the age of 19, he signed with the indie label One Eleven Records and recorded Sunsets and Car Crashes almost entirely on his own, save for a few guest musicians....
