When Sinatra signed to Capitol Records in 1953, he was looking to reinvent himself. Then he teamed up with Nelson Riddle for the richest seven-year partnership in history. Riddle’s arrangements were breathtaking, and Frank’s new style proved intimate and honest, playful and seductive. “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” starts out at a whisper and finishes a full-blown party, while masterpieces like “It Never Entered My Mind,” “Glad to Be Unhappy,” and “I Get Along Without You Very Well” are sustained tempests of rage and despair.
