iTunes Editors’ Notes

A longtime Wu-Tang affiliate and key member of now-defunct military-rap supercrew Killarmy, 9th Prince has weathered many industry-related storms and continues to put out totally raw, real-deal hip-hop completely unconcerned with whatever style is considered "hot" at the time. One Man Army is his third official solo album (following Granddaddy Flow and Prince of New York), and is more of the same – that classic East Coast hip-hop mentality with moody, loop-based production and wordy, thugged-out but intellectual verses. For anybody who longs for the glory days of OG Wu releases and still grabs their army suits and big black boots while bumping the old Killarmy records, this is exactly what the doctor ordered. All 13 tracks here are great, with plenty of menacing beats and aggro rhymes, though "Concrete Jungle," "9th Chamber," Young Black Millionaires," and "Another Summer Love" (featuring RZA) are standouts.

Wu-Tang and Killarms for Life

I don't know what that other guy was smoking, but this a solid effort from the 9th Prince. I love the choice of beats. It would've been nice if Islord and maybe Killah Priest was on this album. Prince's lyrics are WAY better than half of this garbage that's passing as rap music today.
