Remember when Linkin Park was a rock band? Pepperidge Farm remembers
I’ve been a huge fan for nearly 20 years and have stuck with them through shaky moments as there were always great moments in between. The last album was a tremendous resurgence and had me hopeful for the future. However I am at a complete loss for words. They’ve never been afraid to experiment, I feel that this is less of an experimentation and more of pandering to the masses. This easily sounds like any of the other 1000 songs on the radio by a TwentyOne Pilots sound alike. There’s no heart and the lyrics are absolutely generic. A Thousand Suns at least had different sounds and elements of music we hadn’t heard from them before…I hope the entire album isn’t like ‘Heavy’.
It's going to be Amazing!
Can't wait for this album to drop! What people fail to realize is, although Linkin Park's roots are hardcore alternative rock, ever since they started out as Xero in 1996 they've been incorporating a medley of different sounds and genres of music into their work. Mr. Hahn's electronics, Brad and Phoenix's hardcore rock on the guitar, Mike's killer hip-hop and rap skills, and Chester's lovable fluctuating vocals. Ever since they started out back in '96 they've blended all of those genres perfectly into one unmistakable and amazing sound, and that sound defines this band. They're testing the waters of every genre and it's working well.
I, for a fact, enjoyed this song, and while the only gripe I have is that the album is labeled as "Pop" as opposed to "Alternative", I have high hopes for the album as a whole. I will stick with Linkin Park with whatever they put out, as any true diehard fan of any band should.
