Album Review

One Second expands the Euro-disco approach of Stella, and while it's considerably less adventurous than Yello's earlier works, it's engaging dance music, highlighted by some clever uses of Latin rhythms and vocal cameos from Billy Mackenzie and Shirley Bassey. [This edition contains bonus tracks.]

Yello's Classic

One Second from 1987 became a fan favorite with gems such as Rhythm Divine (feat. Shirley Bassey),Moon On Ice (feat. Billy Mackenzie),Goldrush,Call It Love and Dr. Van Steiner. This enhanced version now with bonus tracks and a boosted up sound is a perfect example of classic 80s synthpop.

Better than the song Oh Yeah.

I bought this album so many years ago that I forgot why I originally got it or how I had heard it. Must have been from that movie about that kid ditching school. Fortunately smarter people than me in a stroke of marketing genius placed the popular song smack in the middle of an amazing album not yet discovered in the U.S. If it wasn't for that song I never would have found the other amazing songs on the album. At the time I thought the song didn't fit so when I moved it to tape, I placed Oh Yeah on a compilation tape and recorded this album with the song Oh Yeah omitted. This seemed to make the album flow. In this remaster they seem to have gone back to the original theme. More of a Moroccan/Latin sound than the sounds played when a kid dances on a float (reference not perfect). If you want the song Oh Yeah it is for sale. If you want to surprise a lot of people (including your self) with a thematically perfect and just fun album then give this a try.

One Second is more dance/club sounding than their other albums. They make the genre sound so fantastic! Of all Yello's albums my wife loves this one best.

After signing with the Residents' label, Ralph Records, Yello issued their 1980 debut LP, Solid Pleasure, which...
