Very pretty voice - good, not yet great
Anna has a lovely voice and the physical beauty to match. She handles these works admirably and has some bright moments, such as the Manon piece. She does not quite have the complete soprano voice - but she is young and there is not reason to think her instrument will not improve. Her voice is a bit thin and does not work as well on a piece like the Rusalka aria, O Silver Moon. Her version is nice, but if you compare it to Renee Fleming's (somewhat unfair, I realize) you can see what a better register balance and expressive phrasing can do. Altogther, however, this is a lovely collection and one that I enjoy listening to every time it is on.
A beautiful voice with smoldering looks to match...
Her cinderella story (of being discovered while sweeping the floor of a russian opera house) makes her even more appealing. I like to listen to this CD while working on my car...it's very relaxing and entertaining. You must obtain this CD if you have even a passing interest in opera...!
A shining star
I first learned of Anna N. on a feature story for 60 Minutes. I was pretty impressed with her singing. Actually, I can safely say I wouldn't have even considered listening to opera if it hadn't been for hearing her. I've since bought this CD as well as Sempre Libera. I will probably continue to look for more of her performances.
