OTXmas

OTXmas

The bad news is that OTXmas does not include covers of “A Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Little Drummer Boy” from the rowdy LA rap crew. The good news is that it serves up exactly what’s made Shoreline Mafia so magnetic—bouncy, untroubled slappers made for unruly house parties and cars with good sound systems. OTXmas folds in hints of Bay Area bass and Chicago drill insouciance, but it’s ultimately LA to the core, touching on everything from G-funk to the jerkin’ movement—in large part thanks to the group’s go-to beatmaker, Ron-Ron. On “Occupied,” the crew preaches the merits of quitting your nine-to-five and getting face tattoos. And isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
