EDITORS’ NOTES

Six albums in, Three Days Grace have honed their brand of electronically enhanced hard rock to a high-gloss shine. The Canadians' second record with My Darkest Days vocalist Matt Walst is packed with towering sing-along anthems like "Right Left Wrong," "The Mountain," and "I Am an Outsider," while lovelorn themes permeate the pulsing "Love Me or Leave Me" and the sweeping power ballad "Nothing to Lose but You." Elsewhere, "Strange Days" oozes with bulbous melodies and "Chasing the First Time" deals in thudding narcotic reverie.

The mountain

I’m impressed. I really didn’t think they could sink lower. The Mountain is easily one of the worst songs I’ve heard in years. It sounds like a family friendly Trent Reznor singing the lyrics to a Katy Perry song. This is genuinely an embarrassment to the band’s legacy. Three Days Grace were never anything revolutionary or stunning, but Self Titled and One X were pleasantly listenable and Transit Of Venus was genuinely respectable. These lyrics are so basic that I have trouble believing they were even written by an adult. Come on guys, at least hire someone to help you write, there’s no shame in that. The title of the album and its cover don’t help either. Seems like a watered down One X. What a shame.

Never the same

This band hasn’t been the same since they lost their lead vocalist and we all know it.

I See Why Adam Left

*sigghhh*. I had hopes for this. The first album with Matt wasnt terrible but i didnt think it was worth buying. I believe i saw and interview after Adam left saying the reason he left was due to creative differences. I see what direction TDG wanted to go cuz Saint Asonia is not nearly as generic or corny as this. Im sorry. This just isnt that good. I dont even know if its up to par. Id hear this on the radio and probably not know who it is because a million other rock bands could write this. It almost sounds like Katy Perry's "Roar" just rock-ified. Im gonna have to pass on this one.
