This version kicks it.
Chorus, cannons, and real churchbells... definitely adds an outdoorsy feel to it. Best listened to on horseback.
You Will Never Go Back
Almost everyone has heard the 1812 Overture. And most have heard it with the iconic cannons - and at the very least you have probably heard it with an emphatic bass drum/cannon simulation. Either way the work is a masterpiece. But I had never heard the piece before with CHOIR!
I will never go back…
This work tries to simulate how it was performed at the premiere in Russia - Neeme Jarvi conducts a powerful orchestra, along with real cannons, a full set of church bells, and a full choir. Hearing the voices calling out the Russian anthems in harmony with the cellos will leave your ears and your soul ringing. I cannot listen to a simple orchestral version now. This is how 1812 was meant to be played. Dynamic!
