Album Review

Polydor's The Very Best of Cozy Powell is culled from his early-'80s AOR and hard rock records. This wasn't the best period of Powell's career, suffering from a singular lack of imagination, but it had its moments, all of which are collected here. Even when distilled to this concise collection, these recordings are a bit thin and monotonous, but this remains the place to become acquainted with these records.

Great Album.

This is a great album by the late Cozy Powell. This is some of his best work taken from his first three albums. The Loner is a great track inspired by Jeff Beck. Over The Top and 633 Squadron were often used as part of the drum solos Cozy played. Great overall album. If you're a fan of Cozy this album is for you. If you're just getting into Cozy's work, this is a great place to start.

Great Compilation!!!

If you're a fan of Cozy Powell, this is a great collection of songs displaying the talent of Mr. Powell. You'll find musicians like Mel Galley (Trapeze/Whitesnake/Phenomena), Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy/BBM), Don Airey (Rainbow/Ozzy Osbourne/Deep Purple), Jon Lord (Deep Purple/Whitesnake) and last but certainly not least Mr. Jeff Beck. The songs are progressive and jazzy which are a plus for these musicians to go off along with Mr. Powell. I strongly suggest the following cuts: "Theme One", "Killer","Over The Top", "Cat Moves","Hot Rock", "Formula One" and "The Blister".

Considered to be one of England's best drummers, and very much in demand for rock and pop records, Cozy Powell was almost legendary for a heavy-hitting style that could be made to work with many kinds of rock music, whether for the thundering pop productions helmed by Mickie Most, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake & Powell, or even his own solo work (notably "Dance with the Devil," which was a major English hit in 1973.) Powell began his professional music career in 1965 with the Sorcerers, eventually...
