iTunes Review

Maroon 5 is a pop-rock band and proud of it. Here they embrace pop-rock’s versatility, collaborating with artists from a broad spectrum of sounds. Pittsburgh’s hometown hero Wiz Khalifa raps about envious scrubs who hate on his success—a stark contrast to Adam Levine’s romantic take on the idea of ringing up the object of his desire on “Payphone.” Maroon 5 also joins forces with Max Martin, Benny Blanco, and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder.

Customer Reviews

Amazing album.

Not as good as Hands All Over or Songs About Jane for sure, but I don't think there's one bad song on it. Definitely worth the money.

Fresh and Fun

Although it's not the old maroon 5, it's still fun and refreshing. It's a great summer album with one more night.

Good...Alright, just OK, and different

Maroon 5's newest effort is a hate-it or love-it album. They lean quite a ways away from their old sound (that of Songs About Jane, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, and Hands All Over) and embrace a more poppy, radio-friendly sound. Fans of the old Maroon 5 will likely be disappointed, but the music is undeniably good pop music. The synth effects reveal a band marketing for sales and airplay, but the rythms are pleasantly driving and the melodies well crafted. For those that can keep an open mind or that liked "Moves Like Jagger" and "Payphone," Overexposed is a good (maybe not great, but still passable) effort by an evolving band. For those die-hard Songs About Jane fans, don't bother with this album.

A mix of polished pop/rock and neo-soul made Maroon 5 one of the most popular bands of the new millennium, with songs like "This Love," "She Will Be Loved," and "Makes Me Wonder" all topping the charts worldwide. Previously, bandmates Adam Levine (vocals/guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), Mickey Madden (bass), and Ryan Dusick (drums) had spent the latter half of the '90s playing in Kara's Flowers, even releasing a debut album for Reprise Records while still attending high school. The record tanked,...
