iTunes Review

Space: the final frontier. And also, in Jean Michel Jarre's case, the beginning of a wildly successful career as one of electronic music's best-selling artists. Close your eyes, and the French musician's 1977 debut album doubles as an intergalactic trip, with soaring synthesizer melodies and bubbling arpeggios serving as a kind of imaginary flight simulator. Lush and melodramatic, Oxygène set the standard for electronic prog, paving the way for Tiësto's world-conquering trance and Hudson Mohawke's giddy maximalism.

One of the most amazing pioneers of electronic composition

This is certainly my favorite of Jean-Michel Jarre's extraordinary works. Truly a trail blazer in electronic music, he leads the pack of the genre by providing a strong emotional connection while using synthesizers. Parts 2 and 4 have long since been worn to the grooves on my old LPs. The experience in a pair of great headphones or in a high end car stereo is just out of this world. Highly recommended.

Best Electronic Song

I love this song. This is my personal favorite electronic album.

Early Electronic Music

Great early electronic album. Syrupy and innovative sounds. Jarre was a pioneer and puts on great extravagent live shows. I would start with this album if you are new to Jarre.
