Album Review

A movie as big and ridiculous as Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro's epic reimagining of Japanese kaiju films, needs a soundtrack that's just as overblown as the action that's on-screen. Fortunately, the film can look to the talents of composer Ramin Djawadi, whose guitar-driven score mixes just the right amount of classic orchestral scoring, electronic music, and guitar-driven rock to create the perfect backdrop for the near future film about the epic battle between giant monsters from another world and the massive robots humanity constructs to combat them. While the score might feel a bit overdone on its own, it feels right at home with the larger-than-life action taking place on the big screen. [Pacific Rim was also released with the bonus track "Drift."]

Pacific Rim

I downloaded the whole album at once and it didn't give me the digital booklet. Is this a glitch or what?

Pacific Rim

If you liked the music in the theaters you'll like it here too. Also think about it this is the same composer that gave us the soundtrack of the original Iron Man! My favorite songs are: Pacific Rim, and No Pulse!

A truly great album for an equally great movie. The music is intense and conveys the emotions in certain scenes, making this a great album to listen to overall. Mako's theme song is especially haunting, and the main theme song makes your blood pump in excitement... Or at least it makes me want to go out and fight some kaiju in a Jaeger of my own. It is most unfortunate that this movie didn't get the attention and success it deserved. Nothing can ever go wrong with giant robots. And a cherry on top, is that they didn't shove romance into the face of the viewers. Just a nice focus on actual character development and amazing graphics.

Pardon the ramble, great album in my opinion. Love listening to it when I'm working because of the lack of lyrics to distract me, but enough intensity to keep me occupied. If you enjoyed the film, or you are just looking for some nice music to listen to when you have chores to tend to, or even while exercising, this is an album that doesn't go wrong.
