Customer Reviews

Superb and Underrated.

I usually don't end up listening to entire albums, but this is one of those gems. Every song displays the same degree of craftsmanship and sonic richness. Even if you aren't a fan of the 80's revival sound or "indie" music scene, Wild Nothing delivers slick and catchy tracks that are topped with a shimmering goodness. My favorites are Shadow, Only Heather, Disappear Always, and The Blue Dress. Just buy the whole album, you won't be disappointed.

Utterly Brilliant

This has to be one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. This is coming from a total music snob so it means something. :)

Absolutely Fantastic

Nocturne is one of my most favorite albums of all time and Wild Nothing are one of my most favorite bands. Jack Tatum really hit the golden note with this LP. Their smooth, dreamy sound works so well in every way. All the songs are near perfect with rolling drums, catchy guitar, steady bass, a synth ambiance and Jack singing in a distanced calmed voice about love, and women named Heather and Rheya. Each song is unique and masterfully written in its composition and lyrics. The hooks from guitar and drum, the slow hypnotic synths, the bouncy bass and Jack's low quiet voice; it is a perfect unison of sound and word that brings a good dreamy chill mood and should be enjoyed by all. Buy this, enjoy, and support Wild Nothing!

Formed: 2009

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Jack Tatum, formerly of Jack and the Whale and Facepaint, began making his shimmery, synth-washed indie pop recordings under the name Wild Nothing in the summer of 2009. Emerging at a time when a handful of C-86-esque groups (e.g. Crystal Stilts, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart) were in vogue, Tatum's project garnered a bit of buzz with a synthy, glimmering cover of Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting." Captured Tracks picked up Wild Nothing soon after the project's first demos came out, and it wasn't long...
