Why All The Hating By "Fans"?

What I don't understand is why so many of the so-called "fans" of Chris Cornell/Soundgarden/Audioslave are so caustic and angry about the direction Chris has taken with his music recently. So you don't like this kind of music...big deal! Go listen to old Soundgarden and Audioslave albums and don't bother with Chris' new album 'Scream' or any of the remixes. Why do you resort to name calling and stone throwing? I can imagine Chris reading some of the absolutely hateful comments about his new music and thinking "with fans like these..." As to the remixes, rock bands have been remixing their songs for the clubs for years so why should Chris Cornell be any different? Bottom line: "Scream" is a fantastic album - even if you are not a fan of that type of music and if you don't like it, don't listen to it or the remixes. And most certainly, don't be so quick to throw stones at Chris - or any artist for that matter - for taking their art in a new direction, one that makes them happy. After all, isn't creative and artistic expression what music is all about?

Grow or go. Music is for the heart not the ego. Well done Chris, keep yourself free to create soul music, like you always have.

Nice Track

It seems the bad reviews come from people who are still living in his past, it's good music for those who like this genre.

Originally finding success as the frontman of Seattle's Soundgarden, rock vocalist Chris Cornell forged a successful career after the band's 1997 demise, both with the supergroup Audioslave and as a diverse solo artist. Born in Seattle on July 20, 1964, his music career didn't take shape until he was a teenager, when he began playing drums in a local cover band. Although he spent most of his teenage years as a loner, rock music helped Cornell overcome his uneasiness around others. After dropping...
