An amazing artifact from a bygone era...

When it comes to Rock Progressivo Italiano (RPI), iTunes has seminal bands such as Premiata Forneria Marconi, Area and Le Orme pretty well covered. Unfortunately when it comes to Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, iTunes is sorely lacking. From 1972 to 1976, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso was arguably one of the best and most influential bands that RPI had to offer. At the time of this writing iTunes only has "Quaranta" (a fair live recording from 2010) and "Seguendo Le Tracce". The third item listed on iTunes for this band, "1979 Il Concerto", is a tribute to Area's Demetrio Stratos and contains only one song by Banco del Mutuo Soccorso alongside many bands that could not be considered progressive.

"Seguendo Le Tracce" is a live album from 1975 which was not released until 30 years later. This live set covers material from their first four albums and is a document of the band at their artistic peak. While this does not replace the first classic albums by this incredible band (which are sadly unavailable on iTunes), it does provide fans with a good idea of what this band sounded like during their heyday. It is easily as good as anything that Banco ever recorded and can stand proudly with other great RPI recordings from the early 1970s.

Formed in the early '70s, Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso featured the dual keyboard attack of Vittorio Nocenzi, the aggressive guitar of Rudolfo...
