A+ effort!!! Thank you H.I.M.!!!

I did not purchased this album at iTunes but rather at Target where I got the "special edition" CD package. Very nice packaging and artwork with a lyrics booklet for $15.98 (on sale this week only). The 2nd CD has remix versions of Love in Cold Blood and Dead Lover's Lane which are both very good. Why does iTunes not have those songs, but rather Killing Lonliness and Wings of a Butterfly live? Maybe the record company wants us rabid HIM fans to buy it at the store and iTunes? Oh well...anyhow, I have listened to the album 1x through and I give this an A+. This effort seems to be more of a return to their previous sound much like Razorblade Romance. Unlike Dark Light which was rather "pop" sounding in it's entirety, the closest sounding "pop" song on this album is probably Kiss of Dawn. I love it! If you are a HIM fan, you will too.

Venus Doom, HIM at its heaviest!

This album is truly amazing! its definitly HIMs heaviest release to date. in my opinion its their second best album, (their best album was love metal.) the opening and title track is an amazing intro and sets the perfect mood for the rest of the album. Love in cold blood is an exceptional follow up with a catchy refrain. Passions Killing Floor is my favorite on the record, and is one of the heviest. Kiss of Dawn is more melodic and has a different sound from the rest of the album. Sleepwalking past hope is a really haunting, epic song. near the end of this song it sounds like hes in hell and talking about satan. Dead Lovers lane is reminisent of love in cold blood, with a really great chorus and its my 2nd fav on the album. Song or suicide is a short little acustic tribute to villes friend who commited suicide recently, its sweet and full of emotion, but just a filler. Bleed Well is my 3rd fav on the album and once again, has a great chorus thats gonna stick in your head for days. Cyanide Sun is a really heartfelt closer and finishes off a great 48 minuets of music. BUY THIS AND LOVE IT!!!

A delightful comeback after a horrible release

When Dark Light came out in September of 2005, I had lost pretty much all faith in this group. Too much production, too much haste and too American. This is saying a lot considering I was/am the type of HIM fan that pays $70+ for a Finland only import with 1 bonus track. However, after Dark Light, I went on a HIM hiatus, hoping they'd return to they're signature sound and signature lyrics. Well, I am not dissappointed with this release. A very, very well done album indeed. Amazing lyrical depth and musical talent.

Hailing from Helsinki, Finland and crafting a mix of metal, goth and hard rock they called "love metal," H.I.M. -- known early on as His Infernal Majesty -- was founded in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko "Linde" Lindström, and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen. During the band's early years, they released two demos, 1992's unreleased Witches and Other Night Fears, and an untitled 1995 tape that fans christened This Is Only the Beginning; that year, the band also added drummer Juhana Tuomas...
