iTunes Review

Aimee Mann’s music has always had a streak of melancholy, but never so pronounced—or elegantly executed—as it is here. From the gentle waltz of “Stuck in the Past” to the rainy-day chamber pop of “Simple Fix,” Mann explores the worlds of crumbling couples, problem drinkers, and fading stars with a controlled beauty that eludes the characters in their (probably messy) lives. “Falling for you was a walk off a cliff,” she sings on closer “Poor Judge,” proof that her empathy hasn’t gotten in the way of her caustic wit.

Please Don't Read Pre-Order Reviews

Please don't read pre-order reviews like this and disregard reviews made before 3/31/17 -until the album comes out. I'll be buying her album and I can't wait for it but iTunes needs to stop allowing pre-order reviews (such as this) until the album actually comes out. Thanks.

Mental illness

I've been a fan of Aimee Mann since the 80's and " she was singing in "'Til Tuesday".
She's matured and her distinctive voice continues to astound me. Her newest songs are lovely and resonate with harmony , interesting lyrics and distinctive catchy rhythms. Still an original- thank goodness Aimee has not followed the other music lemmings into unoriginal repetitious techno Pop club music - Bravo Aimee!

During the '80s, Aimee Mann led the post-new wave pop group 'Til Tuesday. After releasing three albums with the group, she broke up the band and embarked on a solo career. Her first solo album, Whatever, was a more introspective, folk-tinged effort than 'Til Tuesday's albums, and received uniformly positive reviews upon its release in the summer of 1993. However, the album was just a small hit, spending only seven weeks on the American charts, where it peaked at 127. Nevertheless, Whatever rejuvenated...
